Investigative Structural
Assessment

When something is wrong with a structure, you need more than a visual inspection. Our investigative assessments go deeper — establishing what happened, why it happened, and what needs to be done.

What Is an Investigative Structural Assessment?

An investigative structural assessment is a detailed engineering investigation into the cause, nature, and extent of a structural problem. It goes beyond a standard inspection to provide a technically grounded explanation of why a structural issue has occurred.

These assessments are typically commissioned when there is a dispute about the cause of damage, when an insurer or legal party requires independent expert opinion, or when the origin of a structural issue is unclear and needs to be properly established before rectification works proceed.

What We Examine

Our engineers conduct a thorough on-site investigation, assessing the structural elements in question and documenting evidence with photographs and measurements. We consider the construction methodology, materials, site conditions, loading history, and any relevant events — such as storms, floods, subsidence, or nearby construction — that may have contributed to the issue.

Where necessary, we review council records, original building documentation, and relevant Australian standards to contextualise our findings.

What You Receive

You receive a comprehensive written report prepared by a registered structural engineer, containing our findings, analysis, conclusions, and recommendations. The report is written to be clear and accessible, while maintaining the technical rigour required for use in insurance, legal, or tribunal contexts.
